Artist Statement:I am originally from Detroit, MI, but have lived in Ypsilanti, MI since 1991. My day job and first passion is working as a Registered Occupational Therapist. My second passion is my successful jewelry business which has been a labor of love since 1997. I have been making lampwork beads, pendants and small sculptures since 2005 with the idea to incorporate new ideas into wearable art and jewelry. I enjoy making turtles , mermaids, floral designs, and whimsical creatures. Since 2005 I’ve studied under Marc Vandenberg (who is A Greenfield village artist and pro at any glass you aim at him) at the Dearborn Glass Academy.
I have also given demo sessions at the Ann Arbor Art Center during the Ann Arbor Art festival. I’ve shown my work at up to 35 festivals and shows a year and have been in over 16 boutiques. My work can also be seen on my website at www.neferene.com.
I have also taken classes at Delphi in Lansing with various lampwork artists such as Val Ozwat in early June 2005, as well as Seasonal Expressions Bead store as my very first lampworking experiences. I always look forward to growth with new ideas and will be the first to admit that I am completely addicted to glass. In conclusion, I am a proud member of South Eastern Glass Beaders Guild and the Great lakes Beadworkers Guild. Amen Business Name: www.neferene.com
